Consolinno develops innovative technological solutions with the aim of making our energy more sustainable and efficient. We use selected projects to show what this looks like in practice. Because when it comes to climate protection and the energy transition, actions speak louder than words!
Climate Quarter Neue Weststadt
Green hydrogen is considered a key technology in the energy transition. It is already being used in the Esslingen climate quarter. Consolinno provides the higher-level energy management system with an AI-based FlexA process.
An electrolyser underground in the residential district produces green hydrogen using a rooftop PV system, a wind turbine and day-ahead optimized grid electricity. The waste heat is used to heat the buildings and the hydrogen is currently fed into the natural gas grid.
This innovative sector coupling increases the energy utilization rate of the electrolyser to over 80%.
FlexA Industry in Schönsee
This project evaluates the use of 100% renewable energies. Flexible loads in energy generation and consumption in particular - including through production shifting - offer great potential for flexibility in industry and therefore cost-effective options for using PV and wind power.Â
Our FlexA product creates a fully automated, modular and scalable energy management system to utilize these flexibilities based on consumption and generation forecasts.
FlexA increases the share of renewable energies in the industry with AI support:
Monitoring heat pumps
In the first construction phase of this project, Consolinno is digitizing 162 heat pumps from Alpha Innotec. The overview of the status of the heat pumps is particularly relevant here and is especially important with regard to construction phase 2 with 256 heat pumps.
Thanks to the comprehensive monitoring system, the operator has an overview of all important parameters and receives messages from the heat pump network in the event of warnings or faults.
Â
Our leaflet enables the heat pumps to be connected and all relevant data to be transmitted securely.
Real-world laboratory for networked e-mobility
This research project is investigating how electromobility can be optimally integrated into the electricity grid in four field trials (clusters). The focus is on the user-friendly, interoperable implementation of future-proof solutions along the entire energy industry value chain.
Consolinno is responsible for the development and pilot applications of energy management systems (EMS) in two clusters and in the "Grid" sub-project, as well as for the development of algorithms for determining flexibility.
The integration of electric vehicles into the energy system is forward-looking for decentralized energy concepts in the district.

Cold local heating with near-surface large collector
In the Bad Nauheim Süd development area, 400 residential units are supplied with cold local heating. Consolinno is developing the energy management system as part of the accompanying "KNW-Opt" research project.
Our innovative algorithms and AI are used to optimize the operating costs of the decentralized heat pump network in the cold heating network. The project was awarded the Gold Readers' Prize in the Energy category by ZfK - Zeitung für kommunale Wirtschaft.
The CO2-free neighborhood solution includes Germany's largest ground collector with 22,000 square meters.
Modern living in the Margaretenau
Margaretenau in the west of Regensburg is a cooperative residential area with a long tradition. In the MAGGIE research project, the housing estate is undergoing an energy modernization.
Consolinno is developing a scalable neighbourhood solution for the decentralized heat supply of the energy future. As the motto of the project is "affordable housing", a tenant electricity model is also being considered.
Our leaflet is the "brain" in the residential quarter, we realize the intelligent ones with OpenEMS.
Billing e-mobility
Customized and individual billing solution for electromobility: The clear presentation of charging processes, contracts, charging cards, customers and business customers gives our partner Polarstern GmbH a very good overview of all ongoing projects.
This enables Polarstern to implement, set up, manage and bill several thousand charging points in a resource-saving manner - which also makes the solution attractive for end customers.
Adjustments can be made independently according to customer requirements without major effort.
Leaflet HEMS beta test in a detached house
The detached house is one of the first test objects for the new Home Energy Management System (HEMS) from Consolinno. The aim is to maximize self-consumption of the PV system and implement sector coupling in a family environment (multi-generation house).
Although the battery storage system, wallbox, smart sockets and heat pump were already installed, they ran independently of each other. With the HEMS, all components are now intelligently networked and are operated in a PV-optimized manner.
The conversion has reduced energy consumption in the heating sector to less than a third.
