Leaflet HEMS: The new assistant for grid-friendly control

With the release of version 1.8, Leaflet HEMS makes life much easier for installers and grid operators: the integrated LPC (Limit Power Consumption) wizard makes implementing grid-friendly control in accordance with Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG) easier than ever—and now also via EEBus!

What does LPC mean?

LPC stands for "Limit Power Consumption," i.e., the limitation of power consumption by the grid operator, for example, in the event of high grid load.
The Leaflet HEMS automatically receives these signals and implements them directly, regardless of whether a consumer relevant to §14a EnWG supports control via relays or EEBus. Every consumer compatible with the Leaflet HEMS therefore meets the regulatory requirements.

What's new: In addition to classic relay control, the system now also supports EEBus, the open standard for communication between controllable devices.

Setup made easy—with the practical setup wizard

The new LPC wizard in the HEMS app guides installers through the configuration process with ease, without the need for specialist knowledge or extensive training.

Our expert Tim shows you in the video how easy setup is with the LPC wizard:

Who does what? – Roles in the § 14a process

Various individuals, departments, and roles are involved in grid-friendly control. Here is an overview:

installers set up the HEMS, connect it to the control box and the controllable consumers.

Network operator
Provides the control commands via the metering point operator.

meter operators Install and operate the meter infrastructure with SMGW and control box and provide support for the secure integration of the control box.

End customers
Benefit from reduced grid fees and a system that automatically adapts to grid specifications—without compromising on convenience.

New installation or retrofitting? Leaflet HEMS can do both.

Whether in a new building or an existing facility, the Leaflet HEMS can be integrated flexibly:

  • For new installations, the system is connected directly to the control box and set up using the wizard.
  • When retrofitting, the system recognizes existing components and enables easy integration, even with older devices via protocol mapping.

In many cases, modern measuring equipment with a smart meter gateway (SMGW) and control box is only installed retrospectively. In such scenarios, the EEBus control box must be connected to the customer network. It can then be integrated via the HEMS app as described and activated for grid-related control.
