On hiking day, we went to our local project in Sinzing, just 10 kilometers from Techbase in Regensburg. We were involved in the initial planning right from the start!
The residents of Sinzing had the energy transition in their hands in the 2021 referendum. Now it's here, Johannes "Gmiase" Espach's ground-mounted PV system. It has been up and running since last September. It was long overdue for us to take a look at it ourselves.
The PV project had Consolinno's full support right from the start – as well as that of Andreas Engl from regionalwerke. So we packed him and our Klaus Nagl into the car and made a stopover in Sinzing on our hiking day. Would Johannes Espach do the solar field again? His mind was racing. Slow progress, headwinds, referendum. He replayed everything in fast forward. In the end, he came to a clear "yes!" because he sees it as the future of energy.
For almost a year now, it has been generating solar power on Sinzing's doorstep. The facts:
- 4 MWp capacity, supplies approx. 1,250 households
- Family-owned farmland, locally based operator
- Green strip with scattered fruit trees, deadwood, dry stone wall, and flowering meadow
- Grazing with sheep is desired, but currently not permitted.
- Bee colonies in the facility
The electricity goes directly into the Sinzing grid and supplies the citizens there. The next step with Consolinno and regionalwerke would be to enable citizens to purchase the electricity as well. In other words, a genuine regional electricity product.
Our shared conviction and Consolinno's very DNA remain unchanged to this day: only through courage, initiative, and solidarity can we turn the tide on climate protection and the energy transition!
