Boom in KfW promotion 442

Do subsidies for the energy transition help if they are exhausted as quickly as KfW 442? And what role do energy management systems such as Leaflet HEMS play? We take a closer look at the case.

And just like that, the funding pot was empty. After only one day! There was a real rush for the KfW subsidy "Solar power for electric cars" with the number 442. A total of 500 million euros was available. After applications totaling 300 million euros were submitted on the KfW portal, the bank stopped the program for the time being. The remaining 200 million euros will be available for application in March 2024.

Controversial voices surrounding KfW subsidy 442.

The energy industry has been discussing this issue extensively in advance. For example, owners of company cars and tenants were excluded. At the same time, many providers jumped on the marketing bandwagon. Some voices criticize the subsidy as "squandering taxpayers' money on high earners who would have built a solar system even without the subsidy." They argued that it would be better to support people on low incomes. Others predicted that"given the restrictive subsidy conditions" and products that were not yet available , there would be "no great rush for the program." Think again!

The will to transition to renewable energy is there!ย

If the subsidy is now disappearing so quickly, it is not the ideal measure. And in its current form, it is not absolutely necessary as a market incentive. At least for many homeowners. This case shows that people who are considering investing in their energy system and can reasonably afford to do so are already on board. They want to make a change! For us, this means that the market must make it as easy as possible for them to accelerate the energy transition. In addition, subsidies must provide more support to those who find such investments more difficult.

What was the subsidy for PV, wall boxes, and electricity storage all about?

In principle: Yes, promote the energy transition in residential buildings! From September 26, it was possible to apply for KfW subsidy 442 and receive up to โ‚ฌ10,200 in funding. The prerequisite: You must be the owner of a residential building in which you live and install a new charging station, an electricity storage system, AND a photovoltaic system. In addition, the owner or a member of the household must own or have ordered an electric car. Very important: The system must use the electricity from the PV system primarily for personal consumption. This means that the PV, wallbox, and storage system need intelligent energy management. Of course, this is where the Leaflet HEMS comes into play.

Regardless of subsidies: Leaflet HEMS optimizes the energy system.

Our intelligent energy manager can connect many devices from different manufacturers. And it is constantly being expanded! This means that you don't have to opt for a preconfigured package, as is often the case with other energy management systems. With the PV surplus charging function, for example, it makes optimal use of surplus electricity from the photovoltaic system for the electric car. It also intelligently integrates heat pumps and battery storage into the system.

With the Leaflet HEMS, everyone can be part of the energy transition. That is our motivation. That is why it is manufacturer-independent, ideal for existing buildings, digitizes energy systems, can be used with or without a cloud connection, and much more.

There are many subsidy programs that promote energy transition in private homes.

Most of the programs also promote energy management systems. There are also alternatives to KfW 442. For example, the Leaflet HEMS is subsidized as part of the federal subsidy program for efficient buildings (BEG) as part of heating optimization. The KfW loan for electricity and heat 270 also promotes the "flexibilization of electricity demand and supply" and the "digitization of the energy transition." This includes storage, load management, measurement, and control systems, either as individual measures or retrofits.
